Halifax Sport Karate was formed in 2005 by Instructor Sensei Matthew Handley 2nd Dan who is registered with the English Karate Federation. Halifax Sport Karate is part of the Shindo Kai Karate Association in Yorkshire.
The style of Karate practised is Bushido Ryu. Bushido Ryu is Halifax's very own style of Karate created in the 1980's by Mick Davies who held Black Belt in Karate, Jujitsu and practised Thai Boxing in Thailand. He blended all the knowledge of the disciplines he practised and founded Bushido Ryu.
We practise realistic & practical self defence. We teach respect, etiquette, confidence and other important life skills. The Karate is based very much around fitness. The classes cater for the people who come to have fun and fitness, we also provide the opportunity for students to compete and attend training courses through Shindo Kai Karate Association and English Karate Federation, if they wish.
Classes are available for absolute beginners to the most advanced Karateka.
